North Portland neighborhood can probably best be described as young, urban and hip. The streets are busied with bike traffic, foot-traffic and buses cruising by every few minutes. This area is a hot-spot for the 20-30ish Portland crowd looking for easy access to downtown. This newly revitalized neighborhood has become a hotbed for local artists and DIYers. Chique townhomes and luxury apartments for rent are planted among historic homes and former-speakeasies.
Northwest Portland appears folded up and hidden like a secret. Should you begin to feel lost, find the confluence of NW Hermosa and NW Monte Vista Terrace so that you may gaze out over the valley and know peace. Or find a place to park and wander lost on foot for a while longer, because the houses and the trees and the landscape are beautiful and go well with exercise and exploration. To the west is Pittock Mansion Acres, which connects Washington Park and Forest Park, and where the grand Pittock Mansion resides.
The Southwest area of Portland features more mature trees, established neighborhoods with older homes in a variety of styles, and a comfortable family friendly feel.
