Summer Party 101: How to Prepare Your Backyard

When it comes to throwing a party, there’s no better spot than extended premises of your own illustrious abode – your backyard

With a bit of work and tweaking here and there, you’ll be able to make your yard one of the most exciting spots in your neighborhood. Indeed, precisely the sort of place where you and your friends can have a party to remember for years to come! The kind of party that will make your neighbors writhe in agony and twitch at every subsequent local murmur of a new gathering in your backyard. (Well perhaps not that extreme, but no one will say no to a well-organized barbeque.)

That said, no matter how accepting or masochistic, not many folks would agree willingly to come at a party that takes place in a dump with little grass and even less in the way of amenities. So, you have to equip your backyard properly before you are able to throw awesome parties where everyone will be enjoying themselves, and no one would have to go do their dirty business in the bushes where mosquitos lurk and also the ominous double-barred Finch!

In this article, we’re going to propose to you eight ways to turn your backyard from a shed and a couple of mole holes into a thriving party haven.

Right then, without further ado, here’s the deal.

1) Organize a Lush Lawn

First things first, your lawn would be the thing the first thing your guests notice.

Nothing ruins a party vibe like being drunk and stumbling on a well-hidden rock on the ground or falling into a mole hole. (Alright, well, that may be worth a chuckle or two, but altogether seen, it’d be better not to check if someone’s going to take it well or not so well. Oooor maybe a full-blown fit of laughter and a funny photograph as documented evidence of your friend’s quite literally fallen state.

Jokes aside, creating a beautiful lawn from scratch doesn’t have to be a difficult task, but it is a tad work intensive at first. Namely, you’ll have to dig out the dirt and make it fertile enough to be able to grow grass there. Then you can plant the grass itself.

That’d be it, really. After this, it’s only a matter of watering and a casual mowing.

2) Prune the Shrubbery Well

We’re not saying you should get rid of the greenery in your backyard altogether.

Instead, what we’re suggesting is that you may want to look into any weirdly overhanging branches, prickly bushes, or blades of grass that have grown in weird shapes and directions.

This easy step will make your lawn (as well as the entire backyard really) look neat and well-kempt, and it will also accentuate the other assets you may venture to install!

3) Build a Backyard Deck

Whether you plan to throw parties or not, a backyard deck is always an option worth taking into consideration

Although building one will take some resources extraordinaire, as well as some time and patience, the result would undoubtedly be worth the effort.

The deck can be used for lounging, dancing, fitting a mini bar you name it!

4) Set up a Grill

If you’re going to have a barbeque, you’re going to need a grill to make it happen.

In fact, barbeque grills are often the central attraction of a party, so if you want to make your party a raging success, a grill and a bunch of sausages and hamburgers would be a must.

The only thing you’d need to take into consideration would be the anti-fire protection, so to speak. Depending on the position of the grill itself, it’d be advisable to set up a ventilation system, in case you haven’t got one already. Although these systems do represent quite an investment, it’s much better to spend money that way than have one of your guests or worse still – a piñata catch fire!

5) Set Up a Trampoline

Feed your guests some beef and turkey legs, get them to drink copious amounts of beer, and then set them off on their merry way towards the trampoline!

Watch adults frolic and fall down head first onto the bouncy surface of a trampoline and have a hearty laugh at their clumsy exploits!

A trampoline is bound to make people happy, no matter how grumpy they happen to be at the moment.

6) Craft a Custom Bar

Nothing to make your guests feel classy and welcomed as a well-organized drink bar!

Yes, you can always pick up your beer, sodas, and the whiskey from the fridge, but having an exclusive bar in place creates a certain atmosphere of eventness… ness. Of a well-shaped event.

Oh, is it a beer for you, Frank? Here you go, bruv!

Another jin and tonic for you?’ (Pointing and nodding vigorously at Frank’s fiancée because you forgot her name.) ‘Coming right away!’

It’s a lark!

7) Make a Swimming Pool

A swimming pool represents one of the best party assets you can have.

While building one often requires considerable resources and a fair amount of effort, as well, once you dip your toes and possibly also dive bomb into it, you’ll understand immediately that it was all worth it.

Of course, it goes without saying that no one has ever said ‘no’ to a well-kempt swimming pool at a party! Just make sure that a fresh-water crocodile doesn’t get in and all good.

8) A Fire Pit

While you won’t necessarily need a fire pit to sacrifice a lamb or burn a piglet, a fire pit to gather around and perhaps scorch a marshmallow or two can be a perfectly viable party mechanic!

(If you want to roast a pig, the fire pit will need to be modified. Contact an Eastern European for these matters; they’ll know everything there is to know about it.

In conclusion, a well-crafted and kempt wine bar or a cheeky swimming pool with plenty of toys, and those floating mattresses can be a massive asset for a backyard party! Even with a relatively small budget, you can make your backyard a well-organized place and a spot you and your friends can enjoy for years to come!
