Online safety is the cornerstone of the Rentberry platform! Our partnership with the HelloSign service allows us to store documents with a high level of data encryption to ensure confidentiality.
While eSigning the lease, you create a legally binding document by putting an electronic signature on it. The landlord uploads a lease and eSigns it first, after that, the tenant does the same. Both of them will have access to it in the “Documents” section of our platform.
Make sure you carefully read and understand the lease before signing. Double check if utilities are included, who is responsible for the maintenance of the property, and if there are any extra costs involved.
Signing a lease will not affect your credit score, but you should be extra careful if you decide to co-sign with your roommate — if they aren’t able to pay their part of the rent, you might face problems as well.
We advise you not to make any payments before you see the rental in person, check the public records related to your potential landlord and their ID. The best option would be to pay on the day of signing a lease by check or online.
