Known as The LaBonte House the original building was built in 1908. Starting as a dry goods store then added on as a private residence it later became an antique store, as well as the offices of a local periodical, Marquette Monthly. Currently the downstairs hosts an art gallery. The upstairs apartment has been carefully remodeled to include modern amenities while keeping original art deco fixtures and charm. All original art and reproductions have been created by local artists and is available for purchase at the art gallery downstairs. This "Artists Apartment" is located in the middle of the active and vibrant North 3rd Street corridor featuring restaurants, coffee shops, brew pubs, ice cream, and hair salons many within a short walk away. Picnic Rock beach on the shore of Lake Superior is a 15 minute walk or 2 minute drive away.
