About This House
The site was established in 1858 as the Oriental Hotel, Newtown. The hotel was a coach stop with cellars and stables located at the back. It remained a hotel until the1950s when it was converted into a residence.
In the last 5 years an edible garden has been lovingly planted at Orchard House. You can enjoy seasonal fruits plucked straight from the tree including plums, feijoas, guavas, pears, apples, nashis, apricots, peaches, nectarines, quinces, persimmons, and pomegranates.
