When Laurance S.Rockefeller opened the Mauna Kea Resort in1965,it was a new level of luxury for its hotel guests and now the guests of residential homeowners. Times have changed! At that time, Trent Jones Sr. was challenged to build a course on lava bluffs, but met that challenge and was honored by his son, Trent Jones Jr. decades later with an update to his father's design. Later, Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay stepped up to the task by creating an 18-hole course at The Hapuna Prince Beach Hotel now known as the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort, a part of the Mauna Kea Resort.
