Villa Marchi, built in 1873 and restored in July 2016, is set in terraced gardens of lemon and orange trees, with beautiful cobbled-stone steps leading down to an eye-catching iron gateway and directly to the sea.
Built for a trader in Japanese artefacts and designed by reputable architect Nikola Marchi, it originally contained a theatre and a large collection of oriental art. So significant was its reputation as "the most beautiful villa in the Adriatic" that it was visited by the Austrian Emperor Franz Josef I in 1875.
