Pipers Cottage is a renovated, cosy, 400 year old stone, semi-detatched cottage, located by the sea overlooking Ventry harbour, about 3 miles west of Dingle, off the Wild Atlantic Way. It boasts underfloor heating and all modern conveniences but in the preserved original cottage. Pipers Cottage has significant heritage value as it was part to the estate of the family of James Goodman who, although being a church of Ireland minister, was the first professor of Irish language at Trinity University. Being a noted Uileann piper (Irish pipes) and having great love of the local music James learned, wrote has preserved more than 2000 manuscripts of music and song in the mid1800s, when anglicisation was destroying the Irish language, music, dance and culture. The cottage has been lovingly preserved in honour of James Goodman and has been used to record tradituional music radio broadcasts and CD recording of trad music.
