Villa Artemide is a newly built structure located in the municipality of Capoliveri, in the small and quiet village of Madonna Delle Grazie. This is such a peaceful place that in the eighteenth century it was chosen as a refuge by Augustinian friars on their return from the Island of Montecristo. To repay the hospitality they received, they built the shrine which houses an extremely valuable painting said to be based on an original sketch by Michelangelo Buonarroti.
